Professor Thanasis Triantafillou was the recipient of the EMPA (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research) Mirko Roš Gold Medal for his outstanding research contribution in the area of Composites for Construction. The Mirko Roš Gold Medal serves to honour EMPA’s long standing research collaborators in the field of Materials and Engineering Science.

Former recipients of this award are: Alfred Rösli and Christian Menn, both Professors at ETH, and Aftab Mufti, Professor at the University of Manitoba and Director of the Canadian Research Center ISIS (Intelligent Sensing for Innovative Structures). The award was made during the opening ceremony of the FRPRCS-8 International Symposium, which took place at the University of Patras in July 2007.
